Black Pond
Usual morning chores of tidying up the kitchen, doing the laundry and then Xena and I set off for a dog walk. Now that the woods are a bit busier again as people can drive there, she is meeting more dogs and getting back to being more social. I was worried that this period of humans not socialising would cause her to be less social with other dogs but she seemed fine this morning after a few tentative greetings with other dogs. Lockdown has been good in that the boys have all been able to spend more time with her and get to know her better, and she is loving the extra attention from everyone.
It was cold this morning and a bit windy, and when I took this photo of Black Pond with the sunlight sparkling on the water I did think it would look so much better using a tripod and filters, but not possible to go on a 1 hour dog walk carrying all of that.
When I got back from the walk, Luke, Gavin and I walked up to the local cafe for a take away coffee. It was very well organised - we stood outside as they only allow one customer in the store at a time - all the tables and chairs have been taken out so there is room to stand without having to be squashed up against the counter. Tap and pay and then exited via the back door into the garden which connects to the street, so no contact with other customers at all. Boy did that coffee taste good! Thomas was busy working, he has two supervisions today so is very busy, and Adam was exercising so we brought home take away coffees for them.
Last night I enjoyed a Blip Meet on Zoom, it was lovely to see some familiar faces of people I have met on a LPH workshop and meet new people too.
Thomas was delighted to take delivery of a small record player and two vinyl records. At age 19 he and some of his friends are enjoying the wonders of vinyl and also film camera again! I could not believe how expensive vinyl records are - he only has bought two so far, Arctic Monkeys and Daft Punk.
Tonight Luke is making supper - a 48 hour marinated slow cooked lamb tagine from Marcus Wareing - it is going to be so good, I am sure of it. Last night I made a gluten free and lactose free fish pie, it was really good even if I say so myself! In restaurants they tend to put lashings of cream into something like a fish pie in the belief that it will improve the taste, instead of achieving that through good flavours, which I why I preferred my version.
