The Birds

Speaking of which, I heard somebody discussing how the brilliant Hitchcock film had been made, and was intrigued to discover that people off set actually hurled birds at Tippi Hedren.
A quick google tells me that the climactic scene took seven days to film and poor Tippi was so affected that she had to spend the next seven days in hospital, recovering from exhaustion
Some birds were actually attached to her clothes with nylon thread so they couldn't get away.
For some scenes meat was attached to the sides of the camera, lenses so that the seagulls would come towards the camera in full on attack mode.

No wonder it was effective!
