More than just a drain
By the side of many of the local lanes there are the remnants of the old drainage systems that were installed to drain the fields and culvert the natural streams. This one had a plastic pipe and road drainage feeding into the original systems that is clearly identifiable from its stone construction. The history of the locality is identifiable in so many ways within the details to be found all around.
My extra image is of wildflowers growing together by the side of the lane. Some of the flowers on the honesty have already turned to the beautiful seed heads, whilst the wild clematis leaves are green and fresh and the nettle lurks.
