Climbing El Cabezon
Public Art #16 Nature Is Art; agreed?. The Artist: it's a collaboration
Needing a break from the man-made., Glen and I drove yet again to the wilderness (wilderness: synonymous to New Mexico) where we took on our 3rd and 2nd summit climb, respectively.
El Cabezon is a volcanic plug w/ elevation 7,785 ft. = 2373 meters. Ascent 1347 ft. spiraling around the side, up the face, through a long chute and over a million tons of boulders. The link includes photos + a video of some guy wearing a GoPro as he climbs. It's not a great video, BUT if you watch it, at about 2:30 minutes into the video you see him pulling cactus spines out of his fingers. Oh yes! At 5:33 minutes into the video he's in the chute/chimney and turns to look away from the rock. One of my extras shows this vantage point.

It is the most difficult knee-trembling, finger-gripping, heart-pounding climb I've ever done. As Glen said following our descent, "Did you think some times you might die?" Oh yes!
