Gateway to Nowhere.....
...........or so it seems! Out looking for a black pheasant, ( which I didn't find!) I noticed this Gateway in an old wall and a few railings attached to nothing and with nothing behind or in front of it (except a couple of pieces of agricultural machinery covered in plastic sheeting) standing at right angles to the road. I can only imagine that in the past it was the entrance to a rather nice country house and there would have been a driveway from the road up to the gates where elegant carriages would have taken guests to a Hunt Ball or some other grand do!! As it is, the remains stand there. somewhat at odds with their surroundings with perhaps a history of happier times. (the ironwork above the gate is rather nice)
As I write this, the sun is now shining brilliantly and I wish I had waited a little before taking this but I went earlier in an attempt to catch my elusive Black Pheasant!!
A rather dull start with some mist but now at 10.40. there is sun and blue skies but a high wind and temp of 8 deg C which is not bad for the time of year.
If you have sun, enjoy it -if not, well it can only improve (?)
