Amongst the weeds

I've been trying to tidy up the garden this afternoon. I've put it off all week as it's been so hot but today there was a nice breeze so I ran out of excuses. Once I'd cut the lawn I used the loppers on the big fir tree that's threatening to scalp passers by. Then with an inward sigh I looked at the patch of weeds in the front bed that puts our garden to shame. Smiling up at me from the gone-to-seed parsley, dandelions and clover was this single dahlia. Since I have never planted dahlias it was an unexpected bonus. Perhaps tomorrow I will carefully weed round it. That's if it's not too hot, too cold, too wet or too windy...
