Shottery

The weather is definitely warming up, very pleasant today, warm enough for lunch outside in the garden.

We had a long WhatsApp video chat with Colin this morning as it's his birthday today.  We should have all been down in Dawlish for his big celebration, but not to be unfortunately.

Later Ann and I made a lentil and red pepper roast for tea.  Sometimes it's not easy cooking with someone else, but in this case it was quite amicable and we didn't fall out with each other!

I then went for a walk down to Shottery.  They have recently completed building some new houses in the village.  Surprisingly one of the rows of houses has a thatched roof covering them all.  The photo is of the 'trademark' the thatcher put on the first house.  I guess they're supposed to be fighting hares, though they have long tails and look more like kangaroos!  There is a pond by the new houses; I spotted this crow having a drink.

This evening is our normal family quiz night.  Colin was due to host the questions and started unaware we had planned a little surprise and a clutch of unexpected, to him, guests starting appearing in our zoom session.  The quiz evening became a virtual birthday party.
