Finchhale Priory

Such an exciting day. I decided my car needed a run out as it's stood still for the last eight weeks. My plan was to drive 10 miles south down the A1 to the Durham turn and come back. Then I was told about Finchhale Priory. Although only 8 miles from my home I had never been before. The priory was closed of course. It was easy to find and I enjoyed a walk down to the river and up a steep slope through woodland and back along the riverside. Such a treat after weeks of traveling only by foot in a fairly small area. I had my first sighting of swallows and saw green fields, such joy.
