No Joke

Sadly we had to stop our PPE production a few days ago due to "new regulations" that came out a couple of days ago regarding the amount of facial coverage our visors provide. An A4 acetate sheet in landscape is not wide enough, apparently. And A3 is way too big. So one can imagine the costs involved in producing a regulated batch. The companies involved with making the official PPE will no doubt make an absolute packet. Too much red tape for us guys to knock em off for free, which is what we have been doing the last two months or so. On the plus side, we at Abbey Gate College have collectively and proudly helped over 2000 individuals with some level of facial protection. The feedback from all have been brilliantly positive. And thanks to those who gave generously on the crowd finding site to help supply us with the materials and resources needed: we have a sizable amount left over which will in turn be donated to various charities.

It's been an amazing journey knowing we've all helped somehow. Great learning curve too. Now Tuttle Jnr can have a play with Solidworks and the 3D printer itself for his own use. In this case (pardon the pun) a hard case for his cards. The lid fits almost perfectly, which is quite hard thing to get your head around if you are unfamiliar with the 3D printing process (no two items are the same). Next task in the design development is to make the container water proof as Tuttle Jnr did not enjoy getting his cards wet during his last scout trip!
