Lockdown day 65

Although it doesn't look like it from our faces on the screen, this was a fun get-together and a quiz night with my IH (International House) Budapest colleagues and friends.  Top left clockwise: Rachel in York, Moi in Barcelona, Derek in Dublin, Devon in London.  We also had Neil McC coming in from Aberdeen, where he just arrived yesterday after years of living in France, but he had to leave early.   Bb was taking the pic - thanks Bb!   It was our first experience of an online quiz and as there were fewer of us than we thought there might be, we just played individually and Bb and I together as we were on the same laptop.   Devon won and no surprise there as she's a bit of a quiz queen and has appeared on many TV quiz shows!   We had a great laugh and a good chat afterwards.  We were all talking about the positive things from a personal perspective afterwards and Rachel said she's been really practising the violin properly again after years of playing in a band, but not practising her technique.  Derek, who usually lives in Berlin, moved back to his parents' house for the lockdown and said it's a privilege to be able to spend this time with his elderly but healthy parents at this time of his life.  When he told them he'd be leaving in a month or so, they both cried!   Devon is learning Italian and sketching and drawing online - not both at the same time.  I've been cooking and baking more, enjoying time in our house, gardening and up-skilling my online skills and basic things like power point (never liked it in face-to-face classes but can see benefits online)  to prepare myself to do teacher training online. Watch this space!

During the day, we went for our walk in the morning and then spent a few hours doing housework on the first floor - dusting, hoovering, mopping the floors, cleaning the bathroom and even washing the windows.  I also took the chance to make up a spare bedroom in our guest bedroom so that either of us can use that if we think it will give us a better night's sleep.  Bb is still a bit sore from his fall on his back a couple of weeks ago (but definitely much better now) and I sometimes just have a restless night.....sigh.

Having snacked during the day on the courgette bread I made yesterday, we decided to give ourselves a rest and had a drink on the roof terrace after our cleaning and not bother making our more elaborate Sunday night dinner and just finished off the home made soup with bread.  Nice catch up with Philippa too before our quiz.  And that's another Sunday gone!
