Back into the hills
I last walked my favourite local walk 20th March 2020 just pre lockdown.
It was good to be back there with Swallows and Sand Martins overhead.
the most striking thing was that the trees planted a few years ago (I’ll have to find a photo from then) have started to look like the beginning of a real woodland.
On the way in Shire Hill wood a Great Spotted Woodpecker was destroying the entrance to a Blue Tit nest with many Adult Tits flying at it I am sure it was raiding an occupied nest. I walked on not wanting to witness the slaughter.
