Chinese pagoda in Victoria Park, Mile End, London
Glorious walk along The Regent Canal in East London today through Mile End and Victoria Park.
The Chinese summer house known as The Pagoda is in Victoria Park, Mile End, east London. This is an exact replica of the original Victorian pagoda first displayed in Hyde Park in 1842 and sold to Victoria Park on 1847. The original fell into disrepair and suffered World War II bomb damage and was demolished in the 1950s. The new pagoda was built in 2012 along with a Chinese bridge which James Pennethorne had included in his design in 1841.
I processed it in mono replicate the original 1842 images in the Illustrated London News.
