A tiny dandelion
Our first day of monitoring at our rail-side site - fortunately I feel a lot better than I did a week or so ago though I'll probably never know whether it was Covid-19 as I've not received the results of my test.
Not much time for photography, but I was rather taken by this dandelion seed-head. There are over 250 species of dandelion in the UK and this is one of a group of rather tiny plants that grow on dry, nutrient-poor ground. They're grouped in Section Erythrosperma, named because some of them have rather reddish seeds, including this one whose English name is Purple-bracted Dandelion.
