Scrawny Blackbird

This blackbird has been around for at least a couple of weeks. His feathers are all awry and I think he has only one leg. But he has a bright, beady eye and he chases all the ladies, more because he doesn't want them raiding the mealy worm store I have left out for him. They, of course, want nothing to do with him.

It looks as if he's been attacked and feathers have been pulled out wholesale. It doesn't stop him. He is the image of positivity. I shall keep putting mealy worms out for him.

Warm and sunny today. I took Basil down Coach Road and into the 'woods' on the left hand side, which are relatively cool and shady. I think Baz appreciated that. When we got to the end of the path we discovered that crush barriers had been erected across the path, supposedly protected by chains and padlocks. No matter. The barriers have been torn down and it's still possible to get on to the school field. Why they don't provide a formal path to enable access across the field to Butthole Land seems to defy common sense.
