Dragon's Tongue
Sweetheart had to be in his village to check on the growth of his grapes and I went for a little stroll in the neighbourhood; what took me through some olivegroves and there I found another new flower, new to me that is.
Sweetheart remembers this flower from his youth and told me its dark tongue then frightened him as it was like a snake.... the olivegrove could be spooky for him and his brother.
While I stepped forward amongst the grasses and wild flowers to picture this beauty which has Dracunculus Vulgaris as its Latin name, a spiky winder plant encircled my one leg and only with my penknife I could free myself from the plant & spot... a bit spooky this plant is indeed :-)
Yes, there's new liberations about to come!!. Corona did touch Greece too, but luckily not that widespread the virus went and no big numbers of death here in this county (in 2 months of time: 2850 diseased, 166 deathtoll today). Each week a little more freedom as to get back to much wanted normality?!! Now the motto here is "We stay safe" (no longer " we stay home").
The intention is that flights intensify from mid June onwards on to Athens and from July onwards to various island again. Small hotels may open from June 15th onwards, the big hotels likely won't open up for this year anymore, as they operate like a large container ship... changing route takes a long time preparation. Workers in the tourist industry are not pleased with the present procedures... "too little, too late, too slow" they protested today in Iraklion; but I think they forget that the virus is a danger to people of 50+ and to many younger aged too.
Thank you all lots for your reactions upon my yesterday's entry... Yes it's wonderful to be able to get more about again! Driving those mountainous roads again (from Spili up to Gerakari was a real treat up and down + all those curves)
