St Ives Tree
There are some fantastic trees in St Ives and I've had my eye on this one for a while. It's at the top of one of the paths down the hillside and I always like to think of Mr Ferrand and his relatives and friends walking these ways in Victorian times, the ladies' skirts trailing in the detritus on the woodland floor, with the children of the hoy polloy sneaking a peak at them over the estate walls. I marvel at how it keeps upright as many of its roots are on the surface and you can see other trees leaning in the background. The estate staff have been steadily clearing many of the rhododendron bushes which starve out other plant species and so there are many more open areas to further enjoy.
Probably looks better in large.
