Caro's Big Day Out

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

Caro sent me this picture from her phone. She took it on the train on her way into Wellington to get her eyelashes done.

"I'm re-starting the economy," she explained.

As it turns out, she wasn't exactly exaggerating. The Eyelash Lady has been having a hard time of it and was glad to be back earning. Though not so much about being back at work. Like all of us, she's been loving the time at home, apparently.

Caro made the most of her trip to go to the make-up shop and the mag shop and then got her train home again, so I was on my own with the lads for most of the day. Our day was very uneventful. The biggest thing that happened was that my references (from Smock and Lemon) came through and I'm on course to start the next contract on 2nd June*.

This means no jobbymoon. But as I'll still be working from home, I'm not too cut up about it.

The references were purely verbal, and given over the phone. The agent told me that Smock, being Smock had offered "constructive criticism" in her evaluation of me. "He's TOO helpful," she offered, "and too forthcoming with information."

If you are rolling your eyes at this, then you're not the only one. But to balance things out, Lemon told me that during her conversation with the agent she'd told him that I'd done very well to work there for so long "given Smock's managerial style".

I hope my next workplace has a Lemon. And if it could have an Auslaender, a Princess, a Bokhara, a Saranny, a Mad Dog and a Bonkers Italian, that would be even better.

S.

* The 1st June - the Monday - is "Queen's Birthday", which is a holiday here.
