Spiral Stairs

Paris is full of winding staircases, but few are perfectly spiral, and almost none are transparent, as this one is (except for the railings, of course). It's in the Maillol Museum in Paris 6e, dedicated to the French artist Aristide Maillol, probably best known for his sculpture. At the bottom is the gift shop (visible at the right).

We visited the museum's exhibition on Canaletto--it was enjoyable, but not of the caliber of the one we saw a couple of weeks ago (briefly mentioned here).

We passed a protest march by civil servants--very orderly and undramatic (aka not blipworthy :) Nonetheless, it's part of what seems to be a serious and growing wave of dissatisfaction on the part of Francois Hollande's allies on the left, less than a year after his election as president last June.
