The Mother Road
El Camino De Los Caminos Public Art #21
Mural designed by Joe Stephenson, painted by Working Classrooms in 1995. Located alongside Historic Route 66, in Downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. Located on Central Ave.(aka Route 66) 8 blocks from home.
Route 66, lovingly called The Mother Road, was the iconic highway of twentieth-century America, stretching from Chicago and the Mississippi River basin to Los Angeles and the Pacific coast, and it connected Americans not only physically but also culturally as an enduring symbol found in classic songs, films, television, and pop art.
