Intermittent Showers and a Bit of Becky
We had rain showers on and off all day; mostly off.
I ventured out to Columbia Art & Drafting; sometimes you just have to have what you want to have. But when I arrived, I found I had forgotten a mask. I tore through my pack looking for something to use and found a cloth for cleaning my glasses. It's a square about 4x5," and I tried desperately to attach it to the stems of my glasses with two paper clips. Clever, I thought, but it was really inadequate. I kept rebending the clips and trying it on, but it just fluttered in front of my nose. Next, I started emptying the glove box which is stuffed with things that tend to be greasy or sticky or simply mysterious. Then - Lo and Behold - there was a regular old-fashioned mask from the boxes Kaiser and OHSU keep next to the rooms of very sick patients. A mask from the days of visiting my sister Becky, who was so sick for so long. Some might say she stuck it in there just then for me to find, and I rather liked thinking that.
