virtual afternoon tea

I'm kind of hoping this was the last virtual afternoon tea and that next week we might be meeting up across mum's garden,  when hopefully the lockdown starts to lift... 

However we have been doing our best to make the most of things... Our Friday  tradition consists of work and school in the morning and then in the afternoon, either mum or me and little un, bake something and we drop some off at the other house,  we then rush back, crank up face time get the kettle on and scoff our treats and catch up... The need to punctuate the week and get a sense that it's the weekend and a celebration, means that our Friday afternoons are a no dieting, no portion control type of event,  little un gets sweets and she also gets some kind of treat, a magazine or a small toy,  something to bring a bit of fun... this week it was blo pens... they're brilliant! it's a poor mans airbrush,  and it works great with stencils or freehand.  We ended up covering the entire floor with pictures and cake crumbs.... Mum was on face time and was having to guess what picture we were drawing, as she couldn't quite see down to the floor....  once complete it would be held up to the camera so she could see if she was right,  and so that she could coo with appreciation over little un's (and my own) creations.  IT was a great way to spend an afternoon.
