This green space became our refuge today , where we could sit quietly, soak up the sunshine and eat our picnic. We decided on a lengthier route today , forgetting it was a bank holiday, and were shocked at how many people were out and about . Couples, groups of young people, families and extended families. Only Dave and I seemed to observe the 2m rule, and we spent a fair amount of time standing in Bramble and nettles waiting for people to pass by without even saying thank you . It’s lovely that people have taken to rambling in the way that they have but it was too busy for comfort .
We left the river to the picnicking families and climbed this hill, which is too much effort for most and not sufficiently interesting to others who like a bigger challenge. So, I’ve posted the picture with a feeling of gratitude that amongst the busyness we can still find small places of calm . The walk has taken the bulk of the day and took us past the spot where Dave tripped so stylishly and injured his shoulder. The weather had been hot and sunny in contrast to yesterday when we lit a fire for warmth and cheer .
Tomorrow Jess , Arthur and I are having another socially distanced walk , can’t help thinking that the lockdown is starting to fall apart .
