Sir Frank Short engraver
Day 68 - Cycle trip over Hammersmith Bridge to Brook Green. Blue plaque for Sir Frank Short (1857-1945) and engraver and painter. He began his career as an engineer and ended it as the President of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers and Treasurer of the Royal Academy. He was a very skilled etcher and engraver who made his own tools and Invented new ones to suit the techniques he devised. He helped Turner with engravings of some of his paintings. Noticed that around Hammersmith the bus lanes are being converted to cycle lanes so buses will now have to share same lane as cars etc?! Lots of rowing on the river around Chiswick.
- had a delivery of Busy Lizzie plug plants which were due in April! Put them all in pots
- planted more petunias in balcony pots
- had drinks on our balcony before dinner while talking to neighbours on their balcony next door
