Lazy Bones

Another dark day of grey wetness today - this is becoming a worrying trend.
Not inspired to leave the house, so here's something from within.

Skelefacts

The human skull is composed of thirty different bones.
Humans and giraffes have the same number of bones in their necks.
The smallest bone in the human body is the stirrup bone inside the ear. It is smaller than a grain of rice.
More than half of the bones in the human body are in the hands and feet.
The human skeleton consists of 206 bones. We are actually born with more (over 300), but many fuse together as a child grows up.
The human skeleton accounts for about 20% of a regular-sized persons body weight.
If a rib is removed it can regenerate itself within 3 months.
The foot bones grow faster than any other bones in the human body.
Human bones are never more than 20 years old due to the body continually undergoing a process in which the collagen and minerals in the bone are broken down and replaced.

If, like me, you enjoy the aesthetics of all things skull, the brilliant Skull-a-day website is for you.
