I spend each winter longing for the return of shadows and the definition they bring to our lives. Architectural splendour barely exists without this definition. As a student I revelled in the magical sci-art of sciagraphy, learning the rules for calculating the projection of shadows onto architectural forms.
Early this morning, free as a bird in the fresh spring sunshine, I walked from Pimlico to Temple, hardly seeing a soul, eating up the architectural detail that sprung out in relief, like blossom, wherever I looked..
