Deconstruction (again!)
The deconstruction and reconstruction of the top part of our pond did not cure the water loss. As we discovered within about 24 to 48hrs of turning on the the pump in the autumn. We left it for the winter, but a couple of weeks ago, W contacted Dom, who had been involved as an assistant in the previous deconstruction, and had had "words to say" about the design. This time we decided to go straight to him - he also has the advantage of living locally.
His feeling was that there was still loss out of the side of the rill. Previous attempts at sorting had concentrated on the right hand side (as you look up the rill) so today he has taken the apart the other side, and found what he believes is the problem.
Tonight, we are running the pump again, and await with trepidation the result of a 24 hour trial.
