A concrete love affair

Leicester's John Lewis Car Park

The 2008 John Lewis Car Park is a 2000 space monolith to motoring to be. It features superbly finished pressed concrete with a bespoke outer mesh pertaining to the city's knitwear heritage. It even has residencies and substation appended to it.

Before the structure opened a huge treasure trove of Roman remains were found below the site. A massive archeological dig took place in the months preceding construction start in 2006.

It makes me wonder what future civilisations in hundreds or perhaps thousands of years might make of this structure as a sure to be piece of POSTPEAKCARTASTIC car-culture archeology.
