A very modest Herdy
Today my walk was enlivened by a podcast of James Rebanks, the Herdwick Shepherd, who farms Herdwick sheep in the Lake District and writes beautifully about traditional shepherding. Herdies are among the toughest sheep in the world, but they have a beguilingly modest and unassuming air.
It reminded me of this photo of a particularly modest and retiring Herdy, taken on a visit to Cumbria in 2015.
