Sgwarnog: In the Field

Chimneys

The three chimneys of Shipley are more often viewed down the canal. I remember @earthdreamer did a particularly fine portrait of them a while back. Today I was viewing them from Baildon Bank, with the added bonus of Manningham Mills with its even more striking chimney on the hill behind, and St Peter's Church.

The Bank was quiet, and has entered it's parched summer stage when the combination of bare rock and scrub vegetation lends it an almost Mediterranean feel. And on a warm, sunny day that feeling is amplified.

It was a quiet day for wildlife though - just a few Small White and Small Heath butterflies, and ants and aphids enjoying their symbiotic relationship on the foxgloves (extra).
