More terrible news.

The German attack has been pressed with frightful violence and brutality. And in the face of it, the Belgian army, under the express command of King Leopold, has capitulated - leaving our flank almost hopelessly exposed.

In such circumstances there will be nothing for it, but withdrawal of what forces we can contrive to rescue from the net.

Comment is useless and recrimination utterly vain, but God help us all!
