15
The Eldest became a little more of an elder today as she turned 15.
Another reminder if it were needed about the passing of time and how it seems to gather speed as you grow older. I’m sure every parent would say that they can remember the day of their children’s birth as if it were yesterday, I am no different.
I am incredibly proud of her for a wider variety of reasons, not least the way she has dealt with the pandemic and being separated from half her family, but also for the young woman she is becoming. She has moments typical of a teenager, but also others which show an older, much wiser head. Could it be that she has listened to a degree of advice of imparted by her old man? Or is that she has ignored it completely and made her own mind up about the world? I suppose the truth lies somewhere between the both, which is just how it should be.
It was nice to have a wander with her this evening, to hear her chattering away and to see her so relaxed.
Having left her and it being such a beautiful evening, I made my way over to Grasmere for a very pleasant socially distanced stroll with a friend around the deserted village and down to the lake which was as still as a mill pond.
Sat by the lakeside and staring out over this view, was a very nice way to finish a lovely day.
Stay healthy.
