Digging marmot

This marmot had been digging in the dirt just before I took this photo today. Look at his nose!

We hired e-bikes today and headed up to Bussalp on a spectacular ride. The views were amazing. Suddenly, just below Bussalp, a marmot wandered across the road in front of us. We decided to stop for our picnic lunch and see if there were any more around. We were not disappointed as a few huge marmots put in an appearance. There was lots of fresh earth outside the marmot holes suggesting that they’d been excavating.
