Dr Edward Benes
Day 71 - Dr Edward Benes(1884-1948) was president of Czechoslovakia. During WW1 he was exiled from his country and he helped Masaryk, the father of the independent Czech nation, establish the Czechoslovak National Council in Paris. When the nation first came into being after the war he was made Foreign Minister in 1918. He eventually replaced the 85 year old Masaryk as president in 1935. However amazing expansionism made a refugee out of Benes again he he spent seven years in exile in Britain and two years in his nephews house in Putney. See extra.
