The Raspberry Beret Party
They wore raspberry berets . . .
The kind you find at the second-hand store.
Raspberry berets . . .
And if it was warm, they wouldn't wear much more!
The flower show in the yard has reached amazing proportions. We've got rhododendrons in several colors, some of the blooms as large as dinner plates. The first yellow iris has opened; a gift from a friend, it is shining out like a tiny golden sun.
My husband felt badly about it when some of our pretty pink posies fell. So he brought three blooms in. And we all tried them on - and discovered that they make excellent HATS!
Above you may see a photo of Tiny Tiger in his new pink chapeau, with his buddies Little Bear and Alex the Alligator. And of course, there are the Crittergators down front. Don't they look fabulous in their fancy hats?
I have two other things to tell you, but I'll put them in the postscripts. Here's a song to go with this picture: Prince, with Raspberry Beret. :-)
P.S. On this morning, Dexter slapped one of our Carolina wrens! Dexter and I were sitting on the front porch, as we do in the morning. And there was a kerfuffle going on between a catbird and a Carolina wren. The catbird chased the wren, and it flew STRAIGHT TOWARD US!!! Dexter's paw flew out, faster than white lightning! And he slapped the wren, but not hard, and it landed in the rhododendron bush behind us. There it sat and gave its little war cry (a loud, shrill call), and it blessed us pretty good, hopped around in the bush, and left. You should have SEEN Dexter's face!!! He has never touched a bird before!!!!! New nickname for Dexter: Sir White Paws of Lightning!
P.P.S. I have been planning a butterfly garden in honor of my big sister Barb, who left her earthly body behind and put on her celestial star-suit last summer. And I wanted to get it planted before her first birthday in Heaven. She was born in early June, and so we always tried to go to the beach in Atlantic City one day in June to celebrate. I planted the butterfly garden on this afternoon, and I promise to show you a picture of it and tell you all about it tomorrow. :-)
