Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

2020 Friday — 55th Anniversary

The weather is changing . . . the inland temperatures are cooling, so today a mild breeze lifted the coastal moisture.
The light and the clouds enhanced the view; the fragrance of anise from the wild fennel plants, the sound of the ocean, and the chilly breeze were all lovely throughout this day. Mr.Fun & I have enjoyed every moment.

We love weddings and have celebrated by re-doing ours numerous times (our 10th, our 20th, our 40th, and finally our 45th).

Fifty-five years ago today, we stepped to the altar at a little wedding chapel in Norwalk, California. We didn't have a clue what we were committing to. My mother wouldn’t allow me to wear white, and she had adamantly expressed to me that we weren't old enough to be "in love." Mr. Fun was 19 and I was 15.

Today what we know, and we’ve known for a long time now, is that "puppy love is real to puppies."

This 2020 month of celebrating has been spine-tingling and has also been punctuated by the knowledge that Mr. Fun has prostate cancer. He’s now in treatment and will be retested in August. So this might be a long summer of waiting for results and prognosis, but the doctor, who is a urologist and an oncologist, thinks this is the best plan.

And tonight, well, we had reservations at our favorite celebration place in Morro Bay, Windows on the Water, right above the harbor and the food was delicious. We would have loved to have had everyone of our friends there celebrating with us. Life is better with friends.

Good night from Cayucos
on California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
& Chloe & Mitzi too
