Mr Dandridge's March Fritillary

Mr Dandridge's March Fritillary was one of many names (this was our old friend Petiver) that the tiny Grizzled Skipper has been saddled with. Others include the Spotted Skipper, the Grizzle, the Grizzled Butterfly and the Mallow Skipper. Grizzled Skipper was the name given to it by Laetitia Jermyn in 1824, one of the few butterflies to be named by a woman. In France it is known as L'Hespérie de l'ormière.
