Crazy About Birds

Carolina Wren

We have a pair of Carolina wrens nesting in a paper bag on one end of our front porch. This is half of another pair that is now building a new nest in the lid of one of the propane tanks that serve our generator. Wrens frequently choose the propane tanks lids. They make nice spots - sheltered from rain, shaded, more than one entrance. What's not to like?

Meanwhile, we're not sure what stage the porch wrenlets have reached. They may have fledged, but both parents just showed up and sat around for a minute looking confused - so I'm even more confused than they are. I hope all is well and no snakes were involved.
