Miniature to Wild

The huge wild rose bush in my garden started as a housewarming gift of a miniature rose in a pot. After the first flowers finished, the pot was moved to the patio where it continued to flower each year, then it was moved to a sunnier position in the grass just off the decking, where it took root so I moved it again down to the garden.
I'm looking at another miniature rose that is now beginning to struggle on the patio and wondering whether it might flourish better in the garden.
