Lockdown Day 68 - Valerian

Many consider Valerian to be a weed. A friend of mine calls it an ‘evil’ flower. I love it, however, and have wished for a long time that I had it in my garden.

Late last year I planted a small pot of dead looking valerian flowers in one part of my garden. It has grown back successfully this spring and it has also successfully self-seeded to another part of the garden, mostly around my pond. Maybe one day I will regret it, but right now I’m loving it, especially during a time I don’t want to spend too much money on new flowers and plants. I particularly like it along this rather ‘empty’ spot in my garden - a shot of colour against an uninspiring fence.
