Murrayshall Quarry, Cambusbarron

In recent times there has been much discussion about the future of this quarry. Although not in use since the 1990s attempts were being made to resume quarrying and that would have had a hugely detrimental effect on the environment of Gillies Hill which lies immediately behind what you see in this image. After a long and still ongoing campaign by the Save Gillies Hill Group, a suspension of quarrying order until 2017 has now been put in place . This area is an important historical and natural place and must be conserved for future generations. Although perhaps not a scenic blip I felt the quarry should be in my journal as I reckon I walk through here several times a month.
