Keep Cool....

Another warm day.
Discovered one field of cows had no water coming into their water trough. They were all shoving around it and I had a job getting in to dismantle the ball cock and valve to clear the blockage. Eventually got things going again .
Spent the rest of the day dismantling pens and a calf creep area in the sheds we use for shearing the sheep and mucking out and spreading more dung. Got fed up by 8 pm and took the dogs a walk along the road with the rest of the family. A noticeable increase in groups of youngsters rallying around at speed. You’re not telling me they are all from the same family groups sharing cars together. All we need now is McDonalds to re open and they will be able to litter at speed too !
This pure limousin cow had calved this morning, right down at the burn where I couldn’t get near with the bike. We surveyed each other from a safe unsocial distance and then I left them alone. When I went back to check them at mid afternoon she had the calf hidden in the rushes and was standing cooling her feet in the water .
