Impromptu cygnet
I think most of my shots are impromptu - I go out with my camera and see what I can find, so when I saw this little family climbing out of the river (two adults with four cygnets) I was delighted. They're the first cygnets I've seen this year.
Many thanks to Laurie54 for hosting MonoMonday this month and for today's subject, 'Impromptu'.
Actually, there was a rather uncomfortable sequel to this shot. As I was turning round to come home and repassing that section of the riverbank I saw a guy with a camera hissing and making threatening gestures at the male. When I got close I could see daddy swan was attacking another adult male crouching in the reeds. He jumped on it, stabbing with his beak and trying to pull its feathers out. Luckily photographer did manage to break up the assault and the attacked swan waddled off into the reed bed looking rather stunned.
Of the cygnets there was no sign. I do hope mum had hidden them safely in the reeds.
I've put another shot in Extras, but no, I didn't try to blip the attack.
Hope the start of your week's gone well. And thank you all bigtime for your lovely reaction to yesterday's damselfly xx
