The redhead is back.

Spotting this fellow at the feeder this morning was a surprise. He is a medium-sized woodpecker, to my eye about the same size as a red-bellied woodpecker, but I don't see him as often. According to one source, the population is decreasing, but the frequency of his visits to my backyard buffet has increased this spring. His visits bring me joy because he is such a striking bird with the contrasting red,black, and white feathers. I captured extra blips of him today because he liked the peanut feeder. I had to go out and refill it after he left.
