Last stand for Mary Queen of Scots, and a stadium

Determined to have a more purposeful day I started the morning with a 3 mile jog/walk. A lovely warm sunny morning even at just before 8. Healthy breakfast of muesli and banana and before I had tome to change my mind I walked to Cathkin Park, formerly a football stadium linked I think to Queens Park, superseded in due course by Hampden Park. The main blip is the Langside Monument commemorating the final defeat for Mary Queen of Scots at the Battle of Langside  in  1568. Behind the monument is Langside Hill Church, designed by Skirving.
From here it was about 20 minutes to Cathkin Park where I blipped the eerily empty football stands. Its clearly a good place for dog walkers and a large one called Bear seemed very interested in my backpack. A little disconcerting. happily the owner was on hand, I think it just had an unfortunate fierce appearance.
Returned home via Queens Park and the cygnets which I saw get out of the water and embark on a thorough preening process which looked as if it was going to occupy them for most of what was left of the morning.
Short walk through Pollok Park in the afternoon sunshine brought my total daily tally to just over 10 miles, which kind of made up for yesterday. The strawberries I bought at Fruit and Roots were delicious especially after the sun had warmed them in my backpack, just as well they were not there at the time of the dog incident.
