Ruinous
I like a bit of decay and dereliction. There's quite a bit of it round here, and this Timpendean Tower - is an average example.
Within sight of it there's another, with the great name of Fatlips, which has been restored and you can climb up to the parapet walk and enjoy the views.
You used to be able to get up close to this one, and, if you were into rock-climbing, scramble up to the first floor and make yourself at home in what was once the main room (the livestock were in the vault below).
Now it is fenced off to discourage such adventures, and it does look as if a high wind might blow the walls down.
We took a picnic lunch, since today is probably the last of the good weather. I didn't spot the cows, with calves, in the field till I went for a stroll over the ridge afterwards. Luckily they decided to ignore us.
The extra shows the setting. You can see it has been built within the remains of something much older, possibly Roman, but more likely medieval.
