Lockdown Day 71 - Fata Morgana
Strong mirage at teatime today totally transformed the Bass Rock, Craigleith and Fidra+mainland East Lothian.
This type of mirage is known as a Fata Morgana.
Fata Morgana is the Italian name for Morgan le Fay (meaning "Morgan the Fairy"), a sorceress of medieval legends, the sister of the legendary King Arthur.
Its Italian origin is because this type of mirage was often seen across the Strait of Messina.
