A new leaf

I was given this plant for Valentine's Day. 
I'm amazed I managed to keep it alive this long. 
Mainly it was a matter of resisting temptations.
"It likes shade. Don't let the sun blaze on it!"
"It should be moist, but let it dry between waterings."
I checked the water level by picking it up. Heavy? Don't water.
I kept it beneath the windowsill instead of on it.

If a plant is this much trouble, I might as well have a cat!
