The long and winding road
The long and winding road does not lead to our door, so to speak.
We got an email back, this time from the head of Immigration.
And it is still NO !
They can't prove they've been living together for over 6 months with official papers, so they're not an established couple. If Fumiko can't travel by air any more soon because of the advancing pregnancy that still isn't a reason to make an exception for her because she is not family ! There are humanitarian exceptions possible, but apparently their situation is not such a situation. Never mind that surely the baby is family, that it is a human right within European law for people to have a right to a family life, that there is no way so far they have been able to marry or register as partners, due to the Covid-19 situation, and that they risk to be separated as a couple on July 1st, when Fumiko's visit pass to Singapore expires but Dick can't travel to Japan with her if she gets sent out of the country.
Now either we have to start a civil trial which will cost the earth and probably won't start for another month or so, or wait and hope that things regarding travel restrictions change so much after 15 June that all of this will be a very bad memory.
Gala melon from above for Tiny Tuesday's fruit theme. Thanks Trisharooni for hosting.
