Carolina Chickadee
These little guys rarely stay still enough for me to get even a halfway decent shot of.
The black-capped chickadee and the Carolina chickadee are very very similar. They do look a little different, and they can sound rather different but I know this is a Carolina chickadee because we live far enough south so that it's the only chickadee we have! Just a bit further north you'll find both kinds - but only in a rather small strip of their respective ranges. And then north of that, only the black-capped. They do, I believe, hybridize on occasion where they overlap. I've seen both when attending the birding festival in West Virginia because in the mountains there the conditions suite the BCCH, and at the lower elevations the CACH is at home.
