Purple Clematis

We planted this climbing plant over a tree stump in memory of my mother. The variety is 'Etoile Violette' and her name was Violette. My grand mother was French, and her two girls both had French names. Their father was a Scottish soldier and her parents met in India when my grandmother was a companion to the daughter of a British Judge, and my grandfather was in the Royal Scots Fusiliers stationed in North India!
